That is, a 1/8" or 5mm or whatever movement of the mpc, whether in (sharper) or out (flatter) will affect the high tones far more than the bottom end of the horn. They can be found used from about $500 to $850 depending upon the age and condition.Don't forget in 2016 Selmer came out with new reeds in a Blue Plastic container. The alto reeds were $24.99 and tenor $26.99 from KesslerMusic. The Omega's I bought in the late 1980s with the clear plastic top. I have several of the fuzzy brown boxes from the 1960s too. Wondering if any SOTWers own a Crossrock case and if you would recommend or advise to look elsewhere.I have had 2 Beechler bellite 8's and a jumbo java A95 but now play jumbo java A75 alto mp and for me the jumbo's are way better in free blowing,sound,tone and range.I felt theres only 1 sound you get with the bellites but the jumbo's are more flexible but each to his own.Had many pieces,metal and hr but for alto the jumbo java is by far the ...713 posts · Joined 2020. #6 · Jan 1, 2023. It's all about tongue position. High overtones are more like whistling through the sax than anything else. I was shopping around today and played on a "made by Selmer" Prelude TS700 tenor that was really decent. It was, frankly, the only beginner horn I tried in that particular shop that didn't need some minor adjusting and leak fixes.
