For doing so you get a cash reward and a crafting recipe. (It is possible to get this crafting recipe from another "special order" as well.) That box is where you deposit the crops. Options for the first page are, "You win some, you lose some," "you should be less greedy," and "I'm offended they didn't want my veggies." I think it doesn't matter much. I told him "you should be less greedy", he aknowledged I'm right and then tried to sell me MY OWN veggies for 2500 g or something. Okay, I know it's not that big of a deal, but I had an issue when trying to do the Pierre's Prime Produce quest. I filled the box with 25 gold veggies I already had and then tried to grow 25 gold to meet both sides of the quest. I didn't grow all 25 and failed the quest, but I couldn't get the 25 I already turned in back..
